Today was a very good day. Joe and I drove the hour south from Salt Lake City, Utah to Mona, Utah to visit Whispering Springs Young Living Lavender Farm. The mountain views on the drive were breathtaking. Being a Northeast girl, I find myself mesmerized by the size of the Utah mountains and the snowy caps I see despite the 95 degree temperatures below. It truly did feel like we found paradise in Mona, Utah.
The lavender farm is beyond anything I have ever seen. The first thing we noticed was the scent of these beautiful purple flowers wafting through the air. It was heavenly! We spent 7 hours at the farm and enjoyed exploring the distillery where lavender, blue yarrow, and jasmine were being created. We explored the jousting arena, the lavender fields, planted yarrow, watched how the bottling process was done, ate the most delicious lunch ever (potato salad, garden salad, fresh sliced turkey breast, homemade wheat bread, cranberry apple chutney, lavender lemonade, and strawberry shortcake), shopped at the bargain tent and ended the day eating lavender ice-cream and wolfberry crushed ice.
It was such a fun day and Joe brought along his Canon EOS 5D Mark II with a Canon ZOOM lens EF 24-70 mm. 1:2.8 L USM to take some pretty sweet photos. Being at the farm and seeing the work that goes into each bottle of essential oils gave us both a renewed respect for Young Living and Gary Young, the man behind the company.
